‘The Bachelorette’ finale: Chris Harrison defends Nick Viall’s fantasy suite comments; why?
Was Nick Viall being a total jerk when he called out Andi Dorfman for sleeping with him on “The Bachelorette” finale? Given that show host Chris Harrison typically sides with the leads (save for Juan Pablo Galavis) and also production, we’re actually inclined to believe him here when he says that Nick probably was not intentionally trying to throw her under the busy when asking why she made love to him during the “After the Final Rose” special. This question was preceded by Andi admitting that she was never really in love with him.
While Andi looked somewhat-furious after the question was asked on the show, Harrison insists to TV Guide that she wasn’t that upset about it. Not only that, but he also feels like Nick was speaking out of a pure gut reaction when he asked the question in the first place:
“Andi and I talked about it during the commercial and she said, ‘What was that?!’ But she wasn’t really upset. He was a mess, he was almost a puddle of a man last night and from Andi and I’s perspective he was shaking like a leaf. I don’t even know if he knows what he said. He didn’t intentionally take a shot at her, he was speaking and rambling and I don’t think he stopped to think we’re on live TV. It’s something that came to his mind and it came out. I don’t think he was in a place to have malice in his heart or get revenge, I really think he was just talking. She handled it with class and dignity and it was unfortunate, but it’s a valid question! It just goes to the main point that he just doesn’t understand how he could’ve felt something and it wasn’t reciprocated. Man, he was so nervous and frazzled.”
Nick has already come out and apologized if the question offended Andi, and also said that it came out of shock and confusion that the moment happened in the first place given what he knows now.
