‘The Originals’ season 2: Claire Holt scores role elsewhere, future status unclear
While we know for certain that Claire Holt will be appearing in at least one of the first few episodes of “The Originals” season 2, we now have some pretty good evidence that her future appearances beyond that are in question for this coming season.
Sources have finally confirmed rumors that the actress is set to be a series regular for “Aquarius,” the 13-episode NBC series about an undercover police officer in the 1960s (David Duchovny) trying to take down Charles Manson. This series also features “Grey’s Anatomy” alum Gaius Charles in a pretty prominent role.
We feel like there is one part of this casting in particular that we feel will be confusing for many, and that is why she left “The Originals” in the first place. When she exited the series as a regular, she had cited a desire to be at home closer to her family as a major reason why. There were hints of course that she would return at some point, and we feel like many fans assumed that if she was going to be a regular somewhere again, it would be this show.
Instead, Holt has signed up for something entirely different, with the only benefit to seeing her home more frequently being that “Aquarius” is not filmed in Atlanta where “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” are located. (That’s got to be a heck of a flight to Australia.) In the end, though, it’s probably a waste of time really speculating too much on this. What really matters is that Holt has a new job, and while it doesn’t rule out her playing Rebekah again, it does guarantee that her appearances will be limited.
