While at Comic-Con this weekend in San Diego, the producers of “Bates Motel” made a pair of separate announcements. One of them you likely saw coming, whereas the other may have blown you away.
Let’s start with the more-expected news that Nicola Peltz is coming back in the role of Bradley. This news has been largely suspected ever since the actress was spotted recently on set, but given our stance against sharing those photos, we wanted to wait until the news was official before sharing anything here.
Also, there is some other news now in regards to Kenny Johnson: He’s back as well! Caleb will be around for the majority of the season, given that he is now a regular on the show. While at the panel this weekend, executive producer Kerry Ehrin said the following about the decision to give him so much more to do in the story:
“I think there’s a great deal of unfinished business between [Caleb and Norma Bates], and what exactly the truth of what happened we really don’t know. … I think digging that out is going to be really interested, but it’s a loaded, loaded relationship because they were incredibly close. And you add Norman into that, and it’s extremely volatile.”
For the majority of the cast, you can expect struggle to be a significant theme of the season 3 story. Everyone is going to have to figure out what their place is in this world, especially Norman Bates himself. How can he keep the dark, sinister side of himself at bay? There are many difficult challenges ahead, and hopefully the show delivers on all of this in the same great way that they have so far.
