TV Quick Hits: ‘America’s Next Top Model’ moved; ‘The Mindy Project,’ ‘Orphan Black’ news
Is The CW actually trying to care now about the ratings for “America’s Next Top Model”? It’s possible, since they are putting the show on a different night for a change.
The modeling competition hosted by Tyra Banks will premiere on Monday, August 18 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern time, and will once again feature men and women models competing to get the title and the grand prize in the end. This is one of those shows that we always forget about in the months it’s not on the air, but then remember and suddenly enjoy when it is on again.
The show will continue to air on Mondays, with repeat airings scheduled for Fridays, until it moves to Friday permanently on October 3. In order to help make this move happen, The CW has officially canceled low-rated comedies “Backpackers” and “Seed.”
“The Mindy Project” casting news – Love Rhea Perlman? Then get ready to smile at the news that she will, per TVLine, play the mother of Danny (Chris Messina) on the Fox series. This is a high-quality show that needs attention, so what better way to get that than by casting a great sitcom icon?
“Orphan Black” … the comic? – It’s true. IDW will release starting in 2015 a series of comics set in the world of the BBC America hit. In a statement, Chief Creative Officer / Editor-in-Chief Chris Ryall had the following to say:
“Orphan Black, in addition to being a captivating TV series, is a perfect premise for comics … And as the second season has expanded the series in exciting new directions, that has only increased the amount of stories we’ll be able to tell in comic-book form.”
No complains here. If there was ever a story that was perfect to appear in a comic, this one happens to be it.
Nick Cannon’s next project – There’s not much to say here, but the “America’s Got Talent” host is going to be developing a nerdy improv show for Syfy. Wait, so isn’t this basically “@midnight”? That’s kind of what we’re thinking right now.
