‘The Newsroom’ season 3: Jeff Daniels reacts to previous Emmy honor, looks ahead
While you wait for “The Newsroom” season 3 to premiere on HBO, why not have a little bit of fun watching Jeff Daniels on something else?
On Monday night, the man behind Will McAvoy made an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” in order to promote his role in “Dumb and Dumber To” (spelled that way intentionally), and brought some great humor to the show while he discussed “The Newsroom” and his surprising-to-many Emmy victory for it last year.
The entire story is great, from Daniels being told that he is really in competition for effectively fifth place among the nominees, to him deciding to show up just to get some food, to him then chewing gum through the nominations thinking that there was no way he’d actually be up on the stage. Then, he completely forgot that he was chewing gum through much of the speech itself, which led to him getting a funny call from his “Dumb and Dumber” co-star Jim Carrey.
Daniels is nominated for the show again this year, and given how unpredictable the 2013 show was, we suppose it’s possible that he finds a way to win again. He also recently wrapped the third and final season for the show, which should put him in contention to get another nomination next year. Of course, much of it will depend on the quality of the show, but there is obviously a great deal of adoration that is out there for him among Emmy voters.
Given that we love “The Newsroom” just as much (if not more) than most other shows out there, you know that we’re going to have more updates up to the premiere.
