‘Fargo’ season 2 official; will feature new cast, story, and time period
“Fargo” was in our mind one of the best things that we’ve seen on TV in 2014. It was intense, brilliant-written, and cast with so many perfect performers that we were glued to the screen from start to finish.
So to find out that there will be more of it? We’re thrilled, and we’re also just as thrilled that there will be an all-new cast for this next go-around. This is not meant as a slam against the first-season cast by any means, but sometims when you love something, you have to let it go.
In a statement about the renewal, FX CEO John Landgraf made it clear just how happy he is that this show, potentially even a future Emmy winner for the miniseries category, is going to be coming back for more:
“We could not be more proud of Fargo. [Season 1] was nothing short of breathtaking and we look forward to the next installment.”
There is no confirmed premiere date for the new season just yet, but we’d be somewhat surprised if the show is completely written and ready to go around the same time next year. We’d rather them take a little bit of time, and maybe even wait until the fall and pair it with Kurt Sutter’s potential new series “The Bastard Executioner.”
What we know for sure is that “Fargo” season 2 will feature an all-new setting, and potentially be in a very different time period than what we had on the show the first time around.
