‘Better Call Saul’ spoilers: First photo, synopsis for Bob Odenkirk series

Better Call Saul season 1Thanks to the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, we’ve gotten more scoop on “Better Call Saul” over the past two days than we really have received for it over the course of the past month or so.

We begin here with the first photo via AMC, which at least shows that the network has come up with a clever way to make Bob Odenkirk’s character look younger than he did on “Breaking Bad,” while at the same time having him look reasonably weathered and still like Saul Goodman. You can still feel the slime coming off of this guy’s forehead.

AMC also released an official logline for the show at the event, which at least gives you a little more insight into what direction that they are wanting to go with the bulk of the series:

“The series is set six years before Saul Goodman meets Walter White. When we meet him, the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside, and, often, against Jimmy, is ‘fixer’ Mike Ehrmantraut, a beloved character introduced in Breaking Bad. The series will track Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the man who puts ‘criminal’ in ‘Criminal lawyer.’”

Given the talk that there will also be some scenes of Saul’s life after “Breaking Bad,” we are not forgetting that at all. There are still some other possibilities of cameos from the likes of Giancarlo Esposito, Aaron Paul, Bryan Cranston, and more, but Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould (who are running this show in tandem) are not interested in making this into a “clip show,” and rather something that stands on its own.

We’ll have some further news on “Better Call Saul” as it comes out, but for now be sure to share your thoughts on this photo and more.
