TV quick hits: ‘Boardwalk Empire’ season 5 premiere date; ‘CSI’ news; ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ talk

“Boardwalk Empire’s” last stand – While at HBO’s panel at the Television Critics Association Press Tour on Thursday, the network finally made the big announcement as to when the final season of the Steve Buscemi show will premiere: Sunday, September 7. If you follow the show extensively, then you know pretty well already that this is the same sort of date that the show receives the vast majority of the time.

There was not a whole lot else said about the show at the tour, mostly for the obvious reason of not wanting to give anything away a little too far in advance. HBO already knows that they have an enormous hit here, and the past thing that they want to do with that is give something away too soon.

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” not dead – One other highlight from the tour is that Lombardo claims to have had a conversation recently with Larry David, who did not tell him for sure that he is done with the long-running comedy. HBO has always had a policy here that the show comes back whenever Larry wants it to, and it’s thanks to this that we could still see another season at some point in the future.

“CSI” casting – Finally, we close this edition of TV Quick Hits with something from the world of the CBS crime procedural. Per Entertainment Weekly, “Franklin & Bash” / “Saved by the Bell” star Mark-Paul Gosselaar has been booked to appear in an arc on the show as twins by the name of Jared and (ironically) Paul. One of them is a convicted murderer getting close to being executed, seemingly without remorse. Meanwhile, the other continues to insist that his brother is innocent, and this man is someone trusted and beloved within the community as a superstar in the world of real estate.
