‘The Walking Dead’ season 5 video: What it takes to be a walker

We can see some counterculture folks out there complaining that AMC is milking “The Walking Dead” for all that it’s worth right now. Our response? Why wouldn’t they? This is the biggest show on TV at the moment, and it makes sense to get as much money out of it that you can.

Plus, it’s not like we’re getting the “Walking Dead Christmas in July Special” or anything next Tuesday. Instead, it’s something that actually seems pretty cool. “Inside the Walking Dead: Walker University” is a chance for you (or at least those of you unfamiliar with the process) to see a little more of what it takes to be a zombie on the show. there is a training process that every person goes through in order to be a walker, and it includes having to master the walk, the behavior patterns, and then of course going through the rigorous makeup and costuming process. These walkers have to feel authentic; otherwise, Greg Nicotero brings shame upon himself and there are no reason for Rick and company to want to run away from them.

So allow the preview video below to be your comfort for now, and then the special on Tuesday to be your comfort until the show actually returns to AMC in October. There’s a rather long await ahead, but hopefully the presence of Comic-Con coming up will allow for some more previews, and zombie-related things for us to discuss. If nothing else, maybe some more news on that long-awaited spin-off will suffice, given that it’s been forever since we’ve heard anything about it at all.
