‘Arrow’ season 3: Stephen Amell to host DC Comic-Con special

See Oliver -Someone may as well give Stephen Amell a robe and a crown at this point: He is quickly becoming Comic-Con royalty, especially too all of those associated with the world of DC Comics.

Today, it was announced that the “Arrow” star is going to host a three-hour Hall H event in San Diego on Saturday, July 26 entitled “A Night of DC Entertainment.” It starts at 8:00 p.m. Pacific time, and features a trio of things that would most-likely make any comic fan like us start to fan themselves to keep from passing out.

  • The world premiere screening of Fox’s upcoming series “Gotham.”
  • A complete pilot screening for “The Flash,” which we know is set in the same world as “Arrow” already.
  • An exclusive first look both at “Arrow’s” upcoming third season, and also new footage from the upcoming NBC show “Constantine.”

The fact that Amell is hosting this event and not someone from the film side of things is a real moment of recognition that DC knows where most of their success is at the moment. While we know that there is “Batman v Superman” coming up, the television medium is where great comic-book stories are now being told on a weekly basis. There is no longer any pressure to try and cram things into a single movie here, and stories and characters have time to build. If “Arrow” had been a film, for example, the impact of Slade Wilson would not have been the same, and we wonder whether or not Oliver and Felicity would have been given the time to gain a massive ‘shipper following.

This has been a big week full of “Arrow” news; after all, it was just announced a day ago that a former Superman is going to be playing The Atom.
