‘Criminal Minds’ season 10 spoilers: Production begins; see the first title now!
“Criminal Minds” may not have had an eventful summer until around a week ago, when the casting of Jennifer Love Hewitt blew the root open and had both fans and non-fans talking. It’s a genuinely famous person joining a show a decade into its run, and that does not happen very often.
Now, we bring you some other fun news from the set the day that production begins: The title for the season premiere! According to official Twitter for the show’s production, the first episode is appropriately going to be entitled “X.” When you remember that this is season 10, and X is the Roman numeral for the number, all of this makes so much sense.
Unfortunately, it’s not exactly a whole lot of information about the story itself. The show didn’t exactly leave off on a huge cliffhanger, so they will have a chance to start reasonably fresh in introducing the Hewitt character. We can at least tell you that the episode is written by showrunner Erica Messer, which shouldn’t be an enormous surprise. The majority of the time these days showrunners tend to pen at least the premiere and finale episodes of their shows, with some of the other members of the staff getting the episodes in between. Maybe sometimes the showrunners will also do a sweeps episode or two in the middle, but it takes a lot of work to balance running a show and actually getting to sit down to personally write a new story.
The show will return to CBS this September, so we will of course have some more news soon!
