‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 5 spoilers: Expect more on Danny’s brother, Kono

Let us begin this “Hawaii Five-0” story with what has to be the obvious: You are going to be waiting for over two months still to watch the premiere episode. As exciting as some of this information is, it’s not going to make the show get here any faster.

Luckily, this information does give you some very clear and definite things to look forward to. While we may not have Catherine around anymore, there will be plenty of other story to pick up the slack, including the story of Matt being picked up after being dormant for a very long time. Speaking to the Honolulu Pulse (which makes sense, given the show’s location), showrunner Peter M. Lenkov said the following when asked for some teasers on season 5:

“We’re still breaking story for the season, but a couple places we know want to go this season are McGarrett dealing with Catherine’s (Michelle Borth) choice to track down Najib from “Makani ʻOlu a Holo Mālie” (“Fair Winds and Following Seas”) will be addressed in the early episodes.

“We’re going to pick up on the whereabouts of Danny’s brother Matt (played by Dane Cook, who went on the run in season one). Chin (Daniel Dae Kim) may find Gabriel Waincroft’s (played by Christopher Sean) return to his life a bigger burden to bear than he expected.

“And for Kono (Grace Park), we may be delving into her past in a way we’ve never seen before.”

With Jorge Garcia now as a regular, we know that the show will be plenty entertaining, and they’ve already shown us that they have the capacity for great mysteries. The challenge here is going to be finding a way to keep things fresh in an area where you would think the story possibilities would be more limited.
