‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Clark Gregg speculates on leading new SHIELD
What will the new dynamic be like on “Agents of SHIELD” season 2? This is a very different show than the one that we had in the pilot, and we would argue that this by and large a good thing.
The show now has completely uncharted waters not teased by any Marvel feature film thanks to the lack of a movie this summer following “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Hydra has seemingly been stopped, and Coulson has to figure out just what the new SHIELD is going to be, and also what sort of leader he will be for it. Are they now a shadow organization? There are so many questions right now to ask, and not a whole lot of answers.
To try to piece together, we do imagine that Clark Gregg is the perfect person to ask, no? He spoke about what the organization’s future could end up being in an interview with IGN, and was both coy and informative at the same time (weird as that may be to say):
“… What’s been clear to me is that the Agent Coulson who’s running this team post-Captain America: The Winter Soldier, post-Hydra, post-being killed and brought back to life with something in him he doesn’t understand… He’s a very different Coulson than the guy who everyone knew. A lot of people who knew him in the old days say, ‘He’s different.’ I think you would have to be different having gone through that stuff. So I think he’s reinventing himself and re-understanding himself as a person anyway, which is probably really necessary to taking in the new environment and figuring out what SHIELD ought to be in a way that it doesn’t get rotten again.”
There is no other way to describe our feelings for season 2 right now other than excitement. Hopefully there is more crossover potential this time around, and that we get to see deeper stories for some of the individual characters.
