‘Undateable’: NBC to air final three episodes on some day

Is there a future for “Undateable” on the air? We’re not entirely hopeful for the comedy, based on its most-recent ratings of a 0.8 in the 18-49 demographic. We want to see it back, but for the time being, we have to deal with the reality that next month could be the end of the show.

Not only that, but it is looking more and more like the end of the show could be coming sooner than you previously thought. NBC has confirmed that there will be three episodes of the show running on July 3, starting at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. This ultimately does mean that the end of the series is coming a little bit earlier than we at first thought or hoped.

Is there a silver lining? It’s mostly that the show did have a chance to live out its entire run, so regardless of what happens next, you got to see its full journey without it getting shelved off to Saturday nights. If it is canceled, we hope most of the people find some work elsewhere. Chris D’Elia and Ron Funches in particularly are two of the funniest guys working right now, so they shouldn’t be without a regular gig for long. Until then, we’ll continue to hope that they appear on “@midnight” as much as humanly possible.

As a motivation to keep the show around, though (which may not bee too much coming from one person), how great is it that NBC has had such a comedy-focused Thursday night this summer? “Hollywood Game Night” is at least fun, while “Last Comic Standing” is the return of something that we loved for most of the 2000s while it was regularly on the air.
