‘Teen Wolf’ season 4 spoilers: Jill Wagner on changes for Kate Argent
“Teen Wolf” season 4 started up on Monday night, and wasted almost no time at all unleashing who was going to be a feared villain this season in Kate Argent. She is back to inflict some more damage in Beacon Hills. Not only that, but she has a new supernatural form to go along with it as a were-jaguar.
We already know that physically, this character is going to look very much different than she did in the past. But what about emotionally? This is where some of the question marks still lie, but the actress behind the makeup has quite a perspective on it right now. Speaking as a part of a new interview with Zap2It, Jill Wagner explained that this new version of Kate is wild, unpredictable, and also someone with a specific agenda:
“I think that Kate is different and she’s similar. She’s different in the fact that she is … In Season 1, we saw this confident, very much in control of being a bad girl that she was — the sociopathic killer that she was. You have to admit, she was in control of that!
“This season, she’s not in control. She’s a mess. She’s kind of … She is the one who needs something in this season, which is totally opposite of the last season, when she was in control and it was all about chasing what was to her the bad guys. I don’t know how bad, in Kate’s mind, she was, because she thought she was doing something good. She’s still a killer, but I have to have empathy, I have to find the empathy with her to love her.
But the one thing she is still the same is she still has this extreme focus on what she’s going after. And I think that’s both the good thing about Kate and her downfall. She will not stop until she gets this…”
We certainly are excited to see Kate back, but we do hope that in the midst of the glimpses of humanity that she shows, she still remains a villain. A female villain is great for the show, and the best villains on these sort of shows are the ones who are layered. After all, there is nothing more terrifying than a villain that you can sometimes relate to.
