‘Sherlock’ season 4: The power of kissing Benedict Cumberbatch
For everyone out there who loves to study trends related to social media, here is an interesting new one for you: If you want plenty of conversation to surround you, a great thing for you to do is kiss Benedict Cumberbatch in an episode of “Sherlock.”
In what has to be one of the funnier comments that we have seen in some time, actress Louise Brealey told the Radio Times in a new interview that thanks in part to a moment on the BBC hit between her character of Molly Hooper and Cumberbatch, her audience on social media almost immediately exploded:
“It went completely crackers when the show came out … I got 7,000 Twitter followers within five minutes of that kiss airing. It had doubled by the time the episode ended.”
As you saw in “His Last Vow,” Hooper is still around Sherlock and the show’s universe, so there is potential for her to come back at some point in the future. Unfortunately, you are going to have a very hard time finding out anytime soon whether or not she will be back. Most related to the series are keeping their mouths closed for the time being on any story possibilities, and for good reason given that it could be practically forever before the series actually ends up coming on television. Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have a million commitments, and Steven Moffat is also working at present on “Doctor Who.” We feel like it will happen for sure, given that everyone involved really wants for it to. The only significant question work asking right now is when.
We’ll have updates on “Sherlock” on just about any front whenever they are available, so be sure to be on the lookout for more of that. Also, be sure to sign up now in the event that you want some further TV updates on all we cover via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
