‘America’s Got Talent’ preview: A look at the ‘special’ Sunday show

In case you haven’t heard just yet, “America’s Got Talent” will be airing a new episode on Sunday night … albeit for a very stupid reason.

While the preview below tries to make it seem like Sunday’s episode just had so much great talent that it deserved its own special night, the reality here is that NBC decided to put it in this position thanks largely to their move to try and bury the ABC show “Rising Star,” which is going to be premiering at the same time. The network is really that threatened by competition apparently, since they did the same thing previously in airing “The Voice” against “The X Factor” back a little while ago in an effort to try and bury it into the ground. Eventually, that and a number of things (with the biggest one being that the show just wasn’t any good) ended up burying it.

There is not enough of any particular act in this video for us to learn about them, which is a little bit of a shame given that it would be nice to know some of who is going to be trying out in advance. We do at least get a glimpse of a gymnast, a singer, some dance acts, and also something that looks completely crazy and qualified for that “something we’ve never seen before” mantra that the judges like to use time and time again.

We will have a full review of this episode up around the time that it wraps, but thanks to the “unique” setup that NBC has orchestrated here, it may take us longer than the standard Tuesday-night review. After all, there is so much out there when it comes to competition.
