TV Quick Hits: ‘Looking’ season 2, ‘Witches of East End,’ ‘Orange is the New Black,’ ‘Daredevil’ news
“Looking’s” episode count – There are a number of scripted TV headlines front and center for this edition of TV Quick Hits, but let’s start with the news that you can be looking out (pun intended) for more of “Looking” when the show returns to HBO with new episodes early next year.
According to TVLine, the episode order for the show has been bumped up from eight from the first season to ten, which puts it even with the number that we had for the first two seasons of “Girls.” This seems about right, and we really hoping that someone does the same thing for another new HBO comedy in “Silicon Valley.”
Rosario Dawson in “Daredevil” – If you are excited about the upcoming Netflix version of the superhero show, it’s easy to be excited about this casting … even without a whole lot being known about it other than that Dawson will play a woman in Hell’s Kitchen who is trying to better the lives of others, and eventually crosses path with our hero (Charlie Cox) in some form. Hopefully, she will be sticking around a while.
“Orange Is the New Black” news – Remember that Mary Steenburgen was recently cast for a role on the Netflix dramedy’s third season? Well, we know now just who she will be playing: The mother of none other than Pornstache. TVLine confirms it as so, and this is somewhat of a surprise to us given that this is not a character we really thought we would get this sort of backstory on.
“Witches of East End” casting – Finally, we’ve heard via TVLine that James Marsters will be stopping by the Lifetime series in the role of Tarkoff, and “old family friend” of Julia Ormand’s Joanna who stops by for a visit. Who knows that this will lead to?
