‘The Bachelorette’: Does Emily Maynard have hope for Andi Dorfman, other TV romances?
We’ve seen time and time again just how hard finding a lasting relationship on reality TV can be. There are a handful of success stories thanks to “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” but there is also a long laundry list of people who have seen their relationship fall apart not long after getting down one knee and popping the question.
Emily Maynard has certainly been on the receiving end of some heartbreak on the franchise over the years, given that her first engagement with Brad Womack ended pretty shortly after the show and her one with Jef Holm was equally unsuccessful. She did eventually find love, but it came away from the show and she recently married.
Does all of this mean that she is now cynical on the prospects for Andi Dorfman and any other contestant who is on the show? Not exactly. Speaking in a new interview with Parade, Emily says that there are a number of components necessary in order to make a reality TV relationship really work:
“It’s been done … It just takes the right two people. The real relationship starts after the show.”
This is of course true, and the only thing that you can do while on the show is try to make the relationship as real as possible, that way there is not some sort of sudden / uncomfortable transition that takes place after the fact where you are suddenly in a different world than what you were in previously. After all, “The Bachelor” franchise often does tend to paint an idealized picture of love.
