‘Game of Thrones’ season 4 finale spoilers: Kit Harrington on ‘broken’ Jon Snow

Jon Snow -“You know nothing, Jon Snow” was a familiar refrain coming from the mouth of Ygritte, and in a way this is true in the context of “Game of Thrones.” He is a man who has been forced to learn almost everything on the fly, but has still somehow found a way to survive despite some pretty horrific circumstances.

Unfortunately, now he may be past the point of no return. Ygritte died in his arms during the Battle at the Wall, and he also has to figure out now how in the world he will speak to Mance Rayder now given all that the parties have been through. This is a subject that Kit Harrington discussed at some length in a new interview with TV Guide, including how

“I think he’s a broken man at the beginning of 10. That’s the way that me and the director Alex Graves discussed it. He’s walking to his death, probably a slow death. He’s lost all of his friends really and the only person he’s ever loved. So, he’s kind of a man on death row, and that’s how I sort of wanted to end. We’ll have to wait and see what happens to him. He’s very broken, he’s in the lowest place he can be in the beginning of 10 really. Poor Jon!”

Personally, we obviously want Jon to live, but to also find some new sort of passion and motivation. He may not like the idea very much of himself as a hero and a leader right now, but that doesn’t change the fact that this is what he is.
