‘Major Crimes’ season 3, episode 2 preview: First look at ‘Personal Day’

Tonight, “Major Crimes” returned to TNT with all-new episodes, and we started to get a little bit of a sense about what this season will be like when it comes to the tone, and some of the cases that we are going to see.

Granted, those things can change very quickly, and that is what we will try to uncover in “Personal Day.” The main case here is a cold one, but it also encapsulates so many different worlds that it remains interesting and different than the typical crime procedural. It’s not often we see the “prison release” and also the “cold case” tropes mixed within a single episode.

If you want to know the base details, then look at the official synopsis below:

Shorty after being released from prison, a man who proclaimed his innocence is found murdered. The victim’s case is reopened and the squad works hard to solve a seventeen-year old murder. To the surprise of Raydor, Rusty confesses the reason behind his recent suspicious activity.”

We like the idea of this one, mostly because there are some other threads that will be tied into it, as well. We know that there are some significant plots coming up ahead, including the return of Jon Tenney and also a potential opportunity to launch another new part of the franchise, depending of course on how the episode does and whether or not TNT wants it. They’ve been slowly getting out of the “new crime show” business lately, but that can always change with a good story.
