‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 5 notes: More Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder stories

What is the latest in the worlds of Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev? There are a couple of different headlines to report here, though the two could not be on more different subjects.

Dating rumors – We begin with the female lead of “The Vampire Diaries,” and some of the gossip that is floating around out there about her personal life. The rumor mill has gone a little crazy as of late with talk that Nina may be dating Muse drummer Dominic West, as the two have been spotted out on a few occasions.

Is it possible that something is happening here? Sure, but for now, a rumor is simply a rumor and there is little else to it. Given that Nina is extremely private and never really ever confirmed her relationship with Ian until after it was over, you can probably not expect her to say much on this in the weeks ahead.

Conservation – We’re detouring now to a little bit of a different subject, but hopefully some of you who were here for the juicy romance scoop will stick around to see what Ian is up to now when it comes to his environmental efforts.

In honor of World Oceans Day, Ian did a Google Hangout recently with Ian, Conservation International’s Greg Stone, and Fabien Cousteau, an explorer with a famous lineage who is trying to live underwater for 31 days straight at the Aquarius base. What we have long appreciated about Ian’s efforts here is that he isn’t just a celebrity looking to piggyback on a cause or try to get good PR out of it. You really get from this discussion how knowledgeable and passionate he is on the subject matter, and how much his own contributions are appreciated.
