‘Major Crimes’ season 3 spoilers: Boss on themes for stories ahead

What is coming up on “Major Crimes” season 3? Monday marks the big  premiere for the TNT drama, and there are going to be plenty of stories to tell in between a new feel, some exciting cases, and also at one point the return of Jon Tenney for a story.

But what is the theme for the episodes ahead? This is a pretty generic question, but one that is still worth addressing here since it leads to more specific, interesting things. Show boss James Duff recently did a full interview on this and more to TVLine, and when it came to thematic content he had the following to say:

“‘Expectations.’ If you come from my part of the country, if you come from Texas or anyplace that’s South-adjacent, you are used to seeing people flat out ruin their lives because they did not turn out the way they expected. Expectations are kind of what separate us from the rest of the food chain, the ability to plan ahead and to see beyond the curve. But when you get ahead of the curve and it’s not what you imagined, or it’s less than what you wanted, or it’s more complicated than you thought, or the things you expected to be there are just not there, that can cause a lot of problems.”

“Major Crimes” is going to still look to maintain some of the creativity and energy that was introduced with “The Closer,” but you should also continue to expect a few elements here and there that allow the show to make more of its own identity.
