‘Halt and Catch Fire’ episode 2 preview: A video into the future

The first thing that we will give AMC’s “Halt and Catch Fire” credit for, beyond having a very good start to a series last week, is actually giving you promos that show something about what is coming up in the season. Take that, “Mad Men”!

This promo lets you know basically that Joe, Cameron, and Gordon have a very difficult road ahead for them when it comes to the primary challenge at the center of this series: Trying to build a computer that is better than IBM’s without the majority of the resources, and also the other tricks and people at their disposal. They are just three very crafty people, and of these three one has a complicated personal life that also takes up a good percentage of their time.

In case you are wondering why this episode is entitled “FUD,” we explained that recently in an article detailing some of what we could be seeing this season. It seems like many titles are going to be tied to computers in some way during this era, and all of this will be interesting to see unfold.

In the end, we just hope that there are more viewers out there who decide to really give this show a chance and check it out. The ratings for the first episode were somewhat of a letdown, but at the same time the series was suffering somewhat from having the premiere episode online well beforehand. Many who were interested likely chose to just check it out that way.
