NBC’s ‘Crossbones’ episode 3 preview: A potentially-captivating capture

Tonight, we feel like “Crossbones” probably did not make enough of a leap forward with its second episode of the series. While there were a few exciting moments, there was also a story that struggled to find its identity, and characters who made choices that did not always make sense.

However, we are genuinely feeling like things are going to be looking up on the show next week with a story that will force Blackbeard and Thomas Lowe to align. You can see the official synopsis for this below:

“When Kate is captured on a trading voyage, Blackbeard and Lowe must work together in order to rescue her before she reveals the island’s whereabouts to William Jagger. In the process, Lowe discovers that Blackbeard has an ulterior, deeply personal motive for keeping him on.”

Is there anything still to be worried about here when it comes to content? We’ll answer that with a firm maybe, mostly because we do worry about the whole “damsel in distress” syndrome. But, we also feel like Kate is going to be no ordinary damsel, and the agenda that Blackbeard is holding onto when it comes to Lowe could make their relationship so much more interesting and complicated. The more that these two characters are in the spotlight, ultimately the better off the series as a whole is going to be.
