‘Orange Is the New Black’ season 2 premiere: How do you prepare?
There is little doubt that this has been a relatively slow week when it comes to new TV worth watching. With that in mind, is it surprising at all that “Orange Is the New Black” is starting to take center stage a little bit.
Friday marks the season 2 premiere for the show on Netflix, which gets a chance to do something that few other shows can in launch on a weekend. Why do that? The answer is simple: Since viewers can watch at their leisure however much they want, they are then going to be able to take off a big chunk of their time the next few days if they want to.
Is this really the best way to watch the show? It is hard to answer that, since there is no real right way to watch it. however, we would say that trying to get through the entire season in just one or two days hurts the viewing experience. It may be hard to keep yourself restrained from binge-watching, but doing this makes it a little more difficult to actually get everything in your brain. You are more likely to miss out on some of the nuance that is there in some of the episodes, and it becomes a big TV mush. A good comparison would be trying to read the entire final “Harry Potter” book in two days, which we are pretty sure we did to negative results. In the end, we do not even remember anything that really happened.
Our recommendation? Watch an episode every day or so, since that gives you a routine, and you can enrich a little more of your life with the comedy.
