CMT Music Awards 2014: Kristen Bell recruits Malin Akerman, Luke Bryan for opening

Every big-name awards show these days seems to need some big opening with a ton of celebrities in tow, so of course it cannot be much of a surprise that this is what the CMT Music Awards tried to pull off with their own opening Wednesday night. There were of course big names, and some funny moments courtesy of host Kristen Bell.

There were certainly some random cameos in here, as she tried to figure out whether it was okay for a woman to host an awards show like this by herself for a genre that was so dominated by dudes. Who thought that putting Tom Arnold on here would be a great cameo? Could that have been any more random if they tried?

Some of the other big names including in here include Malin Akerman, Luke Bryan with Florida Georgia Line (spoofing that Jay-Z and Solange Knowles fight that got so much attention recently), Keith Urban, and a ton of other names that will be very familiar to the country-music crowd. Once Kristen was out on stage, she of course played up the girl-power angle, and also made a reference to the fact that she was Princess Anna in “Frozen.” If we were in that movie, we are pretty sure we would milk it every chance that we could, too.

In the end, Kristen is a pretty great host for almost any show since she is funny, relatable, and she never tries to completely take over. To see one of the worst hosts out there, we expect you just have to wait for the MuchMusic Video Awards to feature Kendall and Kylie Jenner. While we may be judging ahead of time, Kendall already showed at the Billboard Music Awards that she has no clue how to read a teleprompter.
