‘The Amazing Race 25’ spoilers: CBS officially reveals cast, including ‘Survivor’ couple
Typically when “The Amazing Race” begins filming, CBS keeps the cast list under wraps until at least some point in August. We have a policy here of not revealing too much of the show before the network makes things official.
However, they did something a little different this time and following a fairly-public start to the race (which we are not going to reveal here), the full list of teams participated was unveiled. There are at least a few names that should be familiar to you in the group below, but let’s start things off by sharing them before we get into any analysis.
- Bethany Hamilton and Adam Dirks from Princeville, HI – Married surfers. You likely know Bethany as the surfer who lost one of her arms, and was the inspirational for “Soul Surfer.”
- Kym Perfetto and Alli Forsythe from Brooklyn, NY – “Urban bike riders,” whatever that means.
- Amy DeJong and Maya Warren from Madison, WI – Food scientists.
- Lisa Thomson and Michelle Thomson from Miami, FL – Sisters who are also Realtors.
- Michael Ward and Scott Strazzullo from Boston, MA – Firefighters from Boston. Expect accents.
- Brooke Adams and Robbie E. Strauss from Houston, TX and Woodbridge, NJ respectively – Dating wrestlers. They have both been affiliated with TNA.
- Tim Tsao and Te Jay McGrath from Pasadena, CA – College sweethearts.
- Isabelle Du and Dennis Hour from Tustin, CA – “Model and accountant.” What do these things have to do with each other.
- Keith Tollefson and Whitney Duncan from Nashville, TN – These two met on “Survivor: South Pacific,” and there was a big stink made about Whitney leaving her husband to be with him. It’s interesting that this is the couple from the show who is cast here, given their most-famous moment is likely Whitney telling Cochran she “disgusts” him after he flipped on her alliance.
- Misti Raman and Jim Raman from Columbia, SC – Married dentists.
- Shelley Porter and Nici Porter from Detroit, MI – Mother / daughter team.
We are somewhat torn on the idea of continuing to cross over from one reality show to the next, especially when you were not that popular the first time. We already had “Survivor: Cagayan” prove that entirely new and unknown people can tell an incredible story, so you don’t really need the gimmicks. Our other major concern is that reality stars know a ton of other reality stars, and sometimes in the past that has led to way more spoilers. That was another joy of this past “Survivor.” Whenever spoilers are out, some troll always decides to ruin it for other people in comment threads.
