‘The Voice’ Israel to feature Steven Spielberg’s niece Jessy Katz as contestant
As you may already know if you are a semi-regular reader of CarterMatt, “The Voice” is very much a sensation that is all around the world. There are a number of different editions out there that try to produce their own talent, and while we cannot quite say that any of them have managed an extremely successful recording artist, there have been some notable names who have tried out.
This time around, this notable name happens to actually be a relative of the great Steven Spielberg in Jessica “Jessy” Katz. She is the daughter of Spielberg’s sister Nancy Spielberg-Katz, who runs Playmount Productions. She has been in Israel for many years now following her immigration there, and is active on the Tel Aviv music scene.
So what about her audition? The performance that Jessy gives here is to the Lykke Li classic “I follow You,” and she does by and large a very good job with it. Is this going to be something that gets her through to the next round, though? Well, it looks like the coaches on the Israeli version have picked up a thing or two from the Americans when it comes to not wanting to really tip their hand one way or another in regards to what they feel about an audition.
This season premieres on June 8, and we are sure that overseas her tie to Spielberg is not going to be lost on anyone. We’re sure that she also advances to the next round, and depending on how voting works there, she may have a good chance at this competition.
What do you think about this performance, and about the fact that Katz is getting an opportunity to audition for this show in the first place? Share below, and head over here if you want to get some further news worth singing about via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
