‘The Originals’ season 2 spoilers: Sonja Sohn of ‘The Wire’ lands bewitching role

Originals -The Originals” had itself a major threat from the witches in season 1 courtesy of Genevieve, and to a certain extent it appears like the show is ready to dip into that well now all over again.

According to a report from E! News, Sonja Sohn of “The Wire” fame is set to recur on the show’s upcoming second season as Lenore, a described “salt-of-the-earth witch” in New Orleans who holds a great deal of power. When we first wrote about this character we speculated as to whether or not this name was meant to be an allusion of some sort to the Edgar Allan Poe work “The Raven,” and there is still not any evidence there one way or the other.

What we do know is that “The Originals” has gotten a jump on their second season by filming a series of episodes early in the Atlanta area. The reason that they are doing this appears to be schedule-related, since the show has the same order of episodes that it has always had and nothing is changing in that regard. Also, the plan still is for the series to begin airing on The CW later this fall, around the same time as all of the other shows. The only twist here is that “The Originals” has the challenge of airing on a Monday night, which is a time that has doomed a variety of other shows in the past like recently “Star-Crossed” and “The Tomorrow People.” It’s just hard to survive in that world!

Luckily, this show has Joseph Morgan, Daniel Gillies, and also a great all-around cast that now includes someone from one of the greatest shows in HBO history.
