‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: The Black Canary, Malcolm Merlyn, and Thea Queen
‘Arrow” season 2 just ended and with all of the loose threads the CW left dangling, it’s going to make the wait for season 3 seem excruciatingly long.
We’ve recently learned that one of our favorite villains in Malcolm Merlyn will be back and not only that, but actor John Barrowman was promoted to series regular (hopefully this means that we will see a lot of him and Thea being bad asses), but will there be other villains? What about a possible new Black Canary?
Speaking to TVLine, Stephen Amell spoke about the big bad for season 3 and revealed that while Slade was “omnipresent” for season 2, that he doesn’t think that will “necessarily be the case in Season 3.” He added “It’s going to be a little bit different than in Season 2.”
The storyline that we are most excited about is Malcolm Merlyn and Thea’s relationship after seeing her step into his limo at the end of season 2. Barrowman revealed that he suspects Malcolm will be “grooming” his daughter to be more like him. He said: “He’s got to train her to be a powerhouse, to be a tough b**ch. She’s tough now, but she’s got to be tougher.”
And what about the role of the Canary? Now that Sarah has gone off to be part of the League of Assassins once again is this a role that could be filled by Laurel? We saw some hints in the finale as Sarah passed on her black leather jacket to Laurel and her father gave her a stern warning not to get any “grand” ideas, but what does actress Katie Cassidy have to say about the subject? She said: “I do think the torch has been passed. I get that feeling, and I think everybody else gets that feeling.”
