‘Dancing with the Stars’ 18 results: Was Candace Cameron Bure, James Maslow eliminated?

HereThere are two positions to us when it comes to “Dancing with the Stars” that feel like they would be really hard to be eliminated at: The very beginning of the season, or the one right before the finale. You really want to go all the way to the Mirrorball Trophy announcement, and going before that is heartbreaking.

So what happened in the end tonight? It came down to James Maslow and Candace Cameron Bure, and the star who left was … James? We wish that we could say that we were shocked in some way by this, but the truth here is that we really aren’t. Candace may be the worst dancer in terms of scores of the finalists, but there are a few other things keeping her in this competition right now:

  1. Relatability – She is a Christian mom who Christian moms across the country probably see themselves in. Never underestimate the religious vote.
  2. “Full House” – There are people who would fall over dead if John Stamos were to ever appear on this show.
  3. Lack of dance experience – Fans tend to make a pretty big deal about this, and Candace is an attractive alternative for those who want to see a star who really is learning to dance for the first time.

With all this being said, James still should’ve been in the finale over her. He’s a better dancer! Even with that, though, this was a great platform for a guy not known to many of the older viewers of this show, and he reached out to a larger demographic here.
