2014 Billboard Music Awards: Michael Jackson hologram performs ‘Slave to the Rhythm’
There are always a few controversial performances on every awards show, and when it comes to the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, we imagine that Michael Jackson’s “Slave to the Rhythm” is going to be one of them.
From the standpoint of technology, we do most definitely understand this. After all, it is really coll that something like this can be created and shown off for the world. The look and feel of a Michael Jackson performance is down almost to what you would expect it to be.
However, here are where some of the questions start to come up. Regardless of whether or not this performance was authentic-looking, is it really the right idea to bring Michael back from the grave without his obvious permission to do so? It feels almost weird that we are sitting here watching the memory of a person, and giving them this sort of posthumous afterlife treatment. It feels like a better way to go would be having some other artists come out and perform song of his songs as tribute rather than a hologram.
With that being said, there are still plenty of other people out there who love and embrace the technology, and we therefore have to think that it is not going anywhere in the near future. This will likely be done in the future with other artists, and we wonder whether or not this will be put in the will of other artists later in life.
What did you think about this performance: Awesome, but just downright eerie?
