‘Shark Tank’ finale review: BZBox, Baker’s Edge, Tie-Not, and Foot Fairy
“Shark Tank” aired tonight on 8:00 p.m. Eastern! Who knew? Seriously, this was quite a blunder on the part of ABC, even if they wanted to put yet another tribute from Barbara Walters in primetime. This was an event that we feel was probably very easy for many to miss.
Luckily, we are still here one last time to give you a sense as to all the products shown off in the episode. As always, we also are linking to the attached official websites.
Baker’s Edge – We feel bad for the brand here, mostly because we actually really like the idea of a pan like this. We’d even use it. Would we invest in it? Probably not. The issue we see here is that it’s specialty baking. There are not too many people who care enough already about evenly-cooked brownies.
Foot Fairy – On the flip side, we really don’t care for the idea here. Sure, there is value in an application for figuring out a child’s foot size, but what is proprietary about it? Also, who wants to send pictures to relatives about how big their kid’s feet are getting? This is like getting 2,000 forwards in your email from elderly relatives. They were lucky enough to get an investment from Mark Cuban, and maybe this ultimately says a whole lot more about our own inability to embrace apps than it does the company itself.
Tie-Not – Our biggest problem with this product? That we don’t really feel like the world needs something to make water balloons easier. We can imagine now us at age 10 getting pelted with so many more of these things if this existed. With that being said, we get it. If you’re having a big party, this could save a ton of time for parents and kids and is a worthwhile purchase. It’s just not a worthwhile investment.
BZBox – A nice story, but is this really a nice product? If you have a ton of money and hate things falling out of a box, then you probably like this. But personally, this product was too small for the show right now, and was basically an idea. It would take almost half a million units to get the cost down to where it needs to be to make things easier for stores.
The sad thing here is that this was the last presentation of the season, and it went out with a whimper rather than a bang. We hate it when people resort to groveling, and we also hate it when Lori Greiner seems to give in to groveling. This is around the third time that we’ve seen it happen on the show, and the entire tone of this pitch was really awkward. It felt like half of the sharks couldn’t even stand her for not listening to them properly. Episode Grade: C+.
