‘Criminal Minds’ season 10: A moment for Thomas Gibson, AJ Cook, cast to relax
Typically, we go into a new season of “Criminal Minds” feeling like there are around 200 scenarios that can happen as the result of a cliffhanger … and many of them are of the “not good” variety. This is why the finale tonight will be different, mostly because if there is a loose end, it’s not going to be on the same level at all as what we had last season.
It’s far too early to give you any definitive scoop courtesy of showrunner Erica Messer, but we can at least give you some of what she had to say in a recent TV Guide interview on how the cliffhanger-of-sorts in the finale compares to what we have been sitting on over the past week:
“It’s not a cliff-hanger in that traditional sense. I would say the biggest cliff-hanger is the end of 23 into the finale. This year, it felt like, we don’t have something in Rossi’s backyard, but after this journey they’ve been on these two episodes, we need to watch them breathe and know that they’re going to get a lot of rest. That’s how we decided to end it.”
Season 10 of the show will be on this fall, and per the schedule released by CBS at their upfront presentation today, it will once again continue on Wednesday nights after “Survivor.” The show has no intention seemingly of changing things up now, and we don’t blame them. Why rattle the cage of a successful franchise? We just hope that Hotch has a more consistent plot next year, and that the show continues to give you little tastes of what the characters do away from work.
