‘Game of Thrones’ season 4, episode 6: Nikolaj Coster-Waldau on Jaime, Tyrion’s trial

Game of Thrones -On Sunday night’s new “Game of Thrones” episode, we had one of the most intense scenes of the entire show courtesy of Tyrion Lannister’s trial. The man ultimately demanded a trial by combat, but he did it after spending multiple scenes finding out that the entire trial was more or less manipulated by his sister Cersei into bringing about his own demise.

So what does another actor in attendance have to think about the madness, at least when it comes to his own character Jaime? Nikolaj Coster-Waldau spoke heavily on this in a new interview with the Making of Game of Thrones blog, and he explained mostly that her hatred towards Tyrion was a symbol towards everything that she has been holding insider ever since her son Joffrey’s death:

“I don’t think he’s surprised. He’s horrified that she would go to that extent, but Cersei wants Tyrion dead and Jaime knows that. She wants revenge for all the pain she’s endured because of Joffrey’s death and Tyrion has become a symbol of all her hatred.”

“Game of Thrones” still has a solid four episodes in its run, and that means plenty of opportunities to get a chance to see what happens next. There are not too many opportunities left for Tyrion to prove his innocence, and when it comes to combat, he is really putting his life instead into the hands of another … who in turn is putting his or own life into protecting him.
