‘Dancing with the Stars’ 18 results: Was Charlie White, Meryl Davis, Amy Purdy eliminated?
Tonight, “Dancing with the Stars” aired an episode that was certainly important, given that only four pairs would advance to the big finale next week.
The show certainly waited little to no time at all in order to ensure that you were shocked going into the last episode. After all, James Maslow and Candace Cameron Bure were declared safe going into the finale! These are two of the biggest surprises of the entire season.
We also thought going into this point in the competition that Charlie White and Meryl Davis would both make it to the finale. They were both likable, Olympians, and have at least some sort of dance experience. Well, we proved ourselves to be very wrong, didn’t we? Charlie’s elimination was a huge shocker, but it also reinforces a few separate theories … including that pro partners (especially male ones) tend to have fan followings that at this point rival some of the dancers. We definitely feel like Maksim Chmerkovskiy has a way bigger following out there than Sharna Burgess does, and that is no slight to Sharna.
As much as this elimination may sting, it is a nice victory in a sense of the underdogs getting a win. Sure, Charlie’s partner in Meryl Davis did make it all the way to the finale, but you have James, Candace, and Amy Purdy (who we still feel is the favorite to win everything). Not only does she have the inspirational story, but the partner in Derek Hough who wins all of the time.

I am heartbroken. Sharna is my favorite pro dancer. It’s kind of funny that with these later seasons I care more about the pro dancers than the celebrity dancers. Usually it’s because I don’t know the celebrities when they first start the show, but I already know almost all of the pro dancers.
