‘Bones’ season 9, episode 23 preview: Sweets new role, Laura Spencer’s arrival
On Monday night, “Bones” returns from its brief hiatus with a new episode entitled “The Drama in the Queen” that brings a very different dynamic to the show. For one, this could be the most Sweets-centric episode since earlier this season, and it’s likely to be the best one since we spent most of that episode wondering whether or not the show was stalling to get to the Booth / Brennan wedding.
As the producers explain in the video below, the purpose of Monday’s episode is to put the Sweets character on a trial run leading a case, given that Booth may be getting a promotion that puts him in a very different sort of situation. Thanks to that, it needs to be figured out if he can do the job properly, or simply cause some more problems for everyone at the Jeffersonian.
The excitement that comes out of this episode to us is seeing what happens when the professional nature of the Jeffersonian is challenged by someone who is nervous … especially when there is a new intern around with a habit of stirring the pot. This character is played by Laura Spencer, who is currently on the receiving end of an embarrassment of riches. Not only is she getting to be a part of this show, but she also plays the part of Emily, a love interest to Raj, on “The Big Bang Theory.” She is supposedly going to be continuing on with both shows, so it will be interesting to see how that schedules balances out.
