‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: Expectations for Charlize Theron, The Black Keys

How ready are you for this weekend’s new episode of “Saturday Night Live”? There is certainly quite a bit ot look forward to. For one, there’s the Black Keys! This is probably one of the most popular bands in the 18-49 demographic that “SNL” has had on the show lately … though we do have to be honest here when we wonder just how many people actually watch this show for the music.

When it comes to hosting, there is also little doubting that Charlize Theron is a choice that will have at least some people talking. She’s an Oscar-winning actress, but the tricky part of her hosting the show this weekend is mostly just that she hasn’t done in in nearly a decade and a half. Is it possible that you start to lose some of your steam in that span of time? We’re going to have to find out.

The promo below with Charlize, the band, and also cast member Cecily Strong is below, and the best way that we can describe it is “okay.” This is not something that will have you jumping around with enthusiasm, but hopefully, you will find it at least amusing enough to have you interested in seeing where the episode goes from here. We have a hard time personally believing that this will be able to match the show with Andrew Garfield last year. That had great cameos, funny sketches, and the luxury of airing after several weeks off for the writers to cultivate something great.
