‘Hawaii Five-0′ season 5: What we can assume about series’ return

On Friday night, “Hawaii Five-0” is going to come to a close on CBS after a lengthy run on the air this season, and it’s doing so with a crazy episode that offers up quite a bit … in particular the return of the Wo Fat character.

So where does the series try to go from here? The first thing that you can expect here is that there is going to be a familiar face staying place for a while longer. Jorge Garcia is returning to Hawaii full-time after “Lost” as a series regular, and we’ll get a good chance to see what sort of energy he brings to the show. What we will give this show credit for is that even though there are some regulars who stick around year after year, there are others who join the show during the run and add to the flavor.

What we hope the show really continues to do moving forward is continue to push the envelope as to what procedural TV can be. Take, for example, the Fan-Built episode. At first, we were against the idea and thought it was cheapening things for the writers. However, over time we softened when it comes to this stance, feeling like it is almost like it gives the writers the chance to solve a really crazy Mad Lib using some suggestions from viewers around the world. It gets the public involved, and sometimes you need that buzz when you aren’t a show that gets it otherwise.

We cannot see the show moving from its timeslot Friday nights, so be prepared to see more of that around this time.
