‘Big Brother Canada’ finale interview: Neda Kalantar on strategy, throwing competitions

Neda -Neda Kalantar ended up being a huge player on “Big Brother Canada 2,” and were it not for Jon managing to defeat her on that final Head of Household Competition and sending her home, we have little doubt that we would be sitting here talking about her as a potential winner. She played an excellent game from start to finish.

We had a chance to talk briefly with Neda at the finale tonight, and we’ll have a longer interview later this weekend after we chat more with her. For now, click here to keep track of all our updates, including finale interviews with the jury members and the winner.

CarterMatt – I know you’re getting a lot of love tonight, and I feel one of the reasons why is because you managed to play this great game of controlling everything and thinking so far in advance. As such a big fan is this something you prepared long in advance, or adjusted when you got in the game?

Neda Kalantar – I think it was a bit of both. As a fan you have to come in with a strategy that is thought through, and I came up with the strategy of playing the stupid fashion stylist role for the first part of the game. I threw every single competition up until the one that I won. I even threw the one to Heather. I didn’t want to be a threat so I could spend that time building strong relationships and getting himself in a good position. I kind of knew about the First Five anyway, that was just stupid. Andrew and Kenny, people are going to vote them out. There’s no way that was going to last.

That’s when I wanted to start making big moves, about halfway through the game when I was as protected as possible.

Back during that second week of the game (at least for us viewers), you ended up being on the block. How scared were you [of going] then?

I don’t know why I cried! It was so embarrassing. Here’s the thing. I was on slop, I was in a bad mood already, and Jon was really good friends with Andrew supposedly at the time, and he [and Sabrina] both told me ‘you’re not going on the block,’ and then I got put up and it was more of a shock.

Clearly I was a pawn, so I don’t know why I was crying. I don’t cry outside of here and I cried so much in here. It’s messed up.

(Our final response from Neda was cut off for time, but she was talking a little bit about final three scenarios. We’ll at least give you the quote we got below from her.)

“I knew that if I was next to Jon, it would be very difficult because he played a flashier game because he won lots of competitions. So I was scared sitting next to him that he was going to win.”
