‘NCIS’ season 11, episode 24 (finale) spoilers: Tribute for Ralph Waite’s Jackson Gibbs
Sometimes, “NCIS” installments can be very complicated. However, this is not going to be the case for the season finale airing a week from tonight. You’ve heard about this for quite some time, and it is finally coming: The tribute for Ralph Waite and the Jackson Gibbs character. The legendary actor died earlier this year, which is what led to executive producer Gary Glasberg moving up “The Admiral’s Daughter” in order to make sure that this episode has a chance to really shine.
The official synopsis is something that you may have seen prior to today, and it does inform you that there is something more happening in this episode beyond just the funeral for Jackson:
“The NCIS team investigates whether a fire on a U.S. Navy ship that served as a secret detention site for indicted terrorists was accidental or an intentional diversion for an escape.
“Meanwhile, Gibbs travels to his childhood home following news of his father’s passing.”
When it comes to what is going to happen at the end of this episode, the only thing that we can say for now is that there is not going to be any cliffhanger ending. This is going to be all about the story of the episode, and that’s it. You’ll have to just wait until the start of season 12 to get to some more stories, and we’re more than fine with that. Another reason for the lack of the cliffhanger may be that the cast just all recently signed on for new deals, which are going to keep them around for a little while longer.
We will have a promo for this episode soon, so stay tuned.

I am and am not lookig forward to this episode. On the one hand, I’m glad they’re doing a Ralph Waite tribute episode, and know it will be handled with great sensitivity and emotion. On the other hand, I know I’d better stock up on Kleenex (TM) because I’m going to be in tears through most of it. #ByeDad

What a horrible loss. He was a fine actor and his last assignment was perfect. He had several memorable scenes and will be significant loss for the cast. Farewell Mr. Waite RIP my friend you will be missed.
