‘The Bachelorette’: Chris Harrison says Andi Dorfman contestant Eric Hill ‘big part’ of show

Andi Dorfman -The more we hear about “The Bachelorette” contestant Eric Hill in the wake of his death, the sadder we feel for his family, and the more perplexed we are about what is the right way for the ABC series to handle this. While it is easy to sit here and say that they should “do the right thing” and just discard all footage of him, is that really the right thing? They obviously have their show to think about, which is a horrible thing to say, but also something that has to be on executives’ minds.

What makes this whole situation even more difficult is that while Eric doesn’t go extremely far in the competition (given that the show was still filming at the time that he passed away following a paragliding accident in Utah), he makes it at least far enough that his presence was felt and he had an impact on those around him. Show host Chris Harrison tells People Magazine that Hill was “a big part” of the show, and even now producers are still trying to figure out the right and wrong way to deal with this:

“It’s a horrible, horrible thing. He was taken away too young … It’s something we’ve never dealt with on the show. It didn’t only affect our cast, but also our crew who worked closely with him.”

Since it seems pretty obvious that the show is going to include footage of Hill this season, let’s just hope it is of the positive variety. We are of the mindset that you can make his story into something that his family can better remember him by that shows off some of his good qualities. You don’t have to win the show to be considered popular, and we have seen that on here time and time again.
