White House Correspondents Dinner 2014: ‘The Newsroom’ season 3, ‘Dallas’ stars among attendees
The 2014 White House Correspondents Dinner of course had its fair share of big-name politicians, but as always, there was also some room at the event for some celebrities from the world of Hollywood and beyond.
We wrote recently about how “Scandal” and “Veep” cast members were very appropriately in attendance for the big event, and now, we’ve got a list of additional TV stars who all showed up, walked the red carpet, and chatted with political figures.
- Kristen Bell (“House of Lies”)
- Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Sofia Vergara, and Eric Stonestreet (“Modern Family”)
- Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie (“Today”)
- Katie Couric (“Katie”)
- Julianna Margulies (“The Good Wife”)
- Olivia Munn (“The Newsroom”)
- Kimberly Williams-Paisley (“Two and a Half Men”)
- Patrick Duffy (“Dallas”)
- Willie and Korie Robertson (“Duck Dynasty”)
- AnnaSophia Robb (“The Carrie Diaries”)
Compared to some other past years, where Kim Kardashian and Lindsay Lohan were in attendance for the first time, this list still feels somewhat tame. Maybe part of the reason for that is the declining nature of this event as a haven for Washington elite. It’s become more of the DC version of a TV awards show, but to be fair, some TV stars legitimately want to be there for the learning experience more so than the TV time. Duffy, for example, told CNN that as a political junkie, he was enjoying the opportunity to soak in his surroundings.
If you want to see some more news related to the big dinner, then we suggest that you head over to the link here. That is where we are also going to have some highlights from the event itself a little later tonight, when both President Obama and Joel McHale take the stage with their monologues.
