‘The Following’ season 2 finale spoilers: Exec on Ryan Hardy’s surprising mission

Following -The finale for “The Following” on Fox Monday night is going to be insane, and there are really so many reasons why that all go back to Ryan Hardy.

For most of the series, the show has at least tried to make it appear as though Kevin Bacon’s character is trying to work with the FBI to solve the problem known as Joe Carroll. But, he’s always had a little bit of a separate agenda … and that often includes his attempts to make sure that Claire is safe in the past episode or so. In the end, he’s not going to respond too well to the news that she has been captured by Mark and Luke, and it is up to him to ensure that not only does he find her, but he convinces Joe of all people to go with him.

In the video below, executive producer Marcos Siega describes the conflict that is going to run like a current through this episode, and the obvious challenge that this is going to present for Ryan. He has to work with someone who he obviously wants nothing to do with, and he runs the risk of otherwise losing Claire again. As for why Joe would want to help here given some of what Claire has done to him, the simplest answer to that is that while he has not always been the nicest to Claire, we don’t think that Joe is fond of the idea that someone else could kill her.
