TV Quick Hits: ‘Girls’ season 4 casting, ‘The Leftovers’ delayed, ‘Girl Meets World’ poster

New additions to “Girls” – While “Girls” may be somewhat mysterious about their casting most of the time, we do now know a couple of new additions to the HBO show’s fourth season.

First of all, Deadline reports that filmmaker Desiree Akhavan, who has had a similar career trajectory to this point as star Lena Dunham did before the show, has signed on to recur as one of the new students at the writers’ workshop in Iowa that Hannah joined at the end of season 3. She will be joined by newcomer Peter Mark Kendall. Season 4 tried to use the actual university itself, but those permits were denied due to the nature of whatever the show was planning to film.

As for some other big TV stories…

“The Leftovers” premiere pushed back – For those wanting to dive into the mind of Damon Lindelof, you’ll have to wait two additional weeks. The series premiere of “The Leftovers” has been delayed to Sunday, June 29 rather than the 15th, which is an odd move since the original date would have allowed you to capitalize on the “Game of Thrones” finale. Now, you’re going to be airing after the second episode of “True Blood’s” final season, which is a solid lead-in but not as significant.

We wonder if this move has to do with the show needed a little more time to be perfect, but that is mere speculation. We’re excited for it, and the first trailer that comes out Sunday before “Game of Thrones.”

“Girl Meets World” poster – Do you dig this new poster for “Girl Meets World”? It’s hard not to if you loved the original show, since it is following that blueprint almost perfectly. We do wish that there was a premiere date attached to it, though, or at least not two reminders that Disney is the company behind it. One would’ve done just fine.

With the same creative team as the original show, we feel confident that this can actually work.
