‘The X Factor’ notes: Alex & Sierra, Ella Henderson, and judging drama
The latest judging news – Is there anyone really that interested in becoming the next “X Factor” judge? That’s been a pretty interesting situation to watch unfold. You’ve got people like Olly Murs, Dannii Minogue, Ellie Goulding, Rita Ora, and Paloma Faith who have all denied having an interest in the series, and Simon Cowell has ruled out others like Rihanna or Leona Lewis. Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne are also not coming back.Mel B likely has scheduling conflicts with “America’s Got Talent,” which probably rules her out?
So who are actual contenders now for the final spot? Fergie has been linked to almost every singing show for years, but she is a relatively new mom who may not want to make the trip. Robbie Williams could be fun, but we wonder if he’d want to do it full-time. Maybe another Spice Girl gets a call, Simon shows interest in Joss Stone, or he calls up either Paula Abdul or Demi Lovato. Both judged the American version of the show, but depending on when the judges shoot this year, Demi may be on tour.
So what we’re trying to say here is that the well is starting to run dry when it comes to familiar faces.
As for some other news from the “X Factor” world…
Ella Henderson talks new music – We recently sung the praises of Ella’s new music video “Ghost,” and she told the Daily Star that she would like to go back on the show for a performance this upcoming season:
“Simon heard the album and his feedback is positive. He loves it. He’s right behind me. I hope to go back on the show as it’s where it all started. It will be nerve-racking but cool, especially if Simon is back on the show, as it would be the first time I’ve performed in front of him.”
Alex & Sierra keep pushing along – When we were talking about Ella’s music video recently, one of the reasons that it was easy to be so positive was because it felt like she was given time to find her sound after the show ended, and then be brought back in as a pop star with a slightly different identity. This is why we’re fine with Alex & Sierra taking their time on their debut album, and their latest tweet is yet another reminder of the time that goes into it:
“realizing why artists take years to release albums… writing all the songs in 3 months doesn’t speed the rest of it up! we’re trying! :)”
