‘NCIS’ season 11 spoilers: Billy Dee Williams to return for the finale

More news -While the following news may not come as a surprise to many of you, it is still rather nice to report: Billy Dee Williams will be back for the season 11 finale of “NCIS” as Leroy Jethro Moore, the man who Agent Gibbs is named after.

The news itself was confirmed by the former “Star Wars” actor on Twitter, and judging from the fact that there are photos of him and some of the other cast members out there in funeral garb, the easy assumption to make here is that they are attending the funeral for Jackson. The finale is meant to be a tribute to Jackson Gibbs following Ralph Waite’s passing early this year, and will propel the season to go out on an emotional note rather than any “shocking” moment that will have viewers talking for some time like we have seen with a number of other big shocks over the years. The bosses have already said that there isn’t a focus on putting a cliffhanger at the end of this season, largely because of the tribute and that there has already been enough chaos elsewhere.

For a brief period of time after Waite’s death, it was unclear if this was going to be a story that would be able to be properly addressed this season, at all. However, the writers eventually figured out a way to do it, and the story that was originally going to be in the finale (Tony in France) will air a little bit earlier than first expected.
