‘Bones’ season 9 finale, penultimate episode shuffled around
How’s this for Fox creating a mystery that Booth and Brennan would even struggle to figure out? Despite having a schedule seemingly set in stone, the network has opted to shift things around a little bit when it comes to how “Bones” season 9 comes to a close.
The first major announcement is that the episode airing next week, entitled “The Drama in the Queen” (watch a preview for it here), will now be airing on Monday, May 12. That is a long hiatus for a show that is almost over and done for the season. Thanks to this, the finale has been pushed back by a week, as well, to May 19, and the premiere of “MasterChef” will also start a week later on May 26.
There is no real logical explanation for this, unless this is a means to ensure that “MasterChef” doesn’t have to premiere against some of the finales that are airing on some other networks. It is one of the network’s biggest cash cows time and time again in the summer. “Bones” will air a repeat next week, and the finale of “The Following” is still scheduled to air. There will also still be the two-hour premiere of “24: Live Another Day” on May 5, which Fox hopes will be an enormous ratings smash for the network after some years off the air.
As for how “Bones” plans to end season 9, don’t rule out a cliffhanger thanks to the fact that they found out about a season 10 pickup early. Also, we’re still not ruling out that something connected to the Ghost Killer could still resurface, mostly because we are partially in denial that the storyline ended so abruptly earlier this week.
Stay tuned, since we’ll have some more news and updates on the future of “Bones” once it becomes available. For now, share your thoughts in the comments below, and head over here if you’re interested in getting further TV updates from our CarterMatt Newsletter.
