NBC’s ‘The Voice’ spoilers: What Tess Boyer, Kat Perkins, Christina Grimmie will sing

The latest -Tonight, “The Voice” will allow its top 12 the opportunity to get out on stage and rock out … and hopefully, this will lead to some good performances. We just wish that most of them had a chance to perform songs that brought something new to the table. Remember when this show was beating the pants off of “American Idol” in the originality department? After seeing what the coaches have selected with their artists for this part of the competition, we’re starting to worry already if that creativity is not the focus it once was.

Not to spoil our own listing, but just like we ranked Christina Grimmie #1 coming into night, we’re also putting her there when it comes to song choice for tonight. (These song choices were first compiled by Mjsbigblog.)

Team Adam

Kat Perkins, “Magic Man” – If you’re going to do a Heart song, we’re glad at least that it is not the overdone “Alone.”

Christina Grimmie, “Dark Horse” – Awesome choice. It’s super-current, and this may be our favorite Katy Perry song out there.

Delvin Choice, “Unchained Melody” – Really? For a guy who has the hippest style and hair out there, why is he singing this dreary song?

Team Blake

Sisaundra Lewis, “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” – It could’ve been worse, given that it couldn’t have been “I Have Nothing.” But, it could’ve been a lot better to.

Jake Worthington, “Anymore” – Blake does at least know good country songs, and while this Travis Tritt number is predictable, it’s a good choice.

Audra McLaughlin, “Angel of the Morning” – This is the riskiest song on Blake’s list. With the right arrangement, this could be cool … but it could also be horrendous.

Team Shakira

Tess Boyer, “I’ll Be There For You” – Copy and paste exactly what we said about Audra for Tess doing this Bon Jovi cover.

Kristen Merlin, “Stay” – This is a nice country cover for Kristen. It’s relatively current, and in her wheelhouse without being overly obvious.

Dani Moz, “Just Give Me a Reason” – Ugh. It seems like every season of every reality show lately has featured this song, and not a single one of them has felt like anything other than karaoke.

Team Usher

Josh Kaufman, “Stay With Me” – Skylar Laine has given us faith that this song can be interesting, and now Josh has to live up to that. He has the talent to.

T.J. Wilkins, “Waiting on the World to Change” – This song never works on a singing show. It works at a John Mayer concert where he can improve and come up with a guitar solo.

Bria Kelly, “Rolling in the Deep” – Jena Irene just slayed this song on “American Idol,” and there are so many arrangements out there already that Bria’s going to have trouble standing out.
